Welcome to the clinical psychology practice website of Dr. Stephen F. Drozda, I hope you will find the information here useful.
Choosing a provider of psychological services is an important step but can also be a perplexing one. Several different types of professionals provide counseling and mental health care. Each has a different type of training and their backgrounds and levels of experience vary.
Professional psychologists receive doctoral level training in understanding human behavior and in applying psychological knowledge to help people solve problems with feelings, thinking, behavior, personality, and relationships. As part of their education, clinical psychologists complete a year of internship before receiving their doctoral degree and at least one additional year of supervised experience afterward. Once these requirements are met, psychologists are licensed after passing national and state examinations.
While professional qualifications are important in their choice of a psychologist, clients also look for personal characteristics that will enable them to form an open and trusting relationship with a therapist. The deeply personal nature of clients' concerns require the professional to respond to them with acceptance, empathy, and effectiveness to help them work toward solutions.
In my over 30 years experience as a clinical psychologist. I have worked with many clients in a variety of clinical settings and with a range of problems. I am deeply committed to the care of my clients and place respect for them and dedication to their well being first in my work with them. |
